Our client wanted a social media application which lets users be a part of a social hub related to their daily events. From setting reminders, plannings updates, writing blog posts to share dining updates with friends and sending birthday invitations, the app had to offer a variety of stuff. They wanted the app to let users connect to their friends and family, make plans with them to meet, shop, dine, etc. The users would be able to do social planning, creating travel plans and sharing content with their connections using their calendar. They wanted the application to render a seamless social media experience to the users in addition to the wide spectrum of features it had to offer.
The application needed to be designed and developed with a wide range of options for the users like managing daily activities with a calendar, create invitation and greeting cards, promote a business, planning vacations, blogging, sending autographed birthday wishes, etc.
A personal login and profile for the users had to be built wherein they can see all their activities and connections at one place.
A home page had to be created which would allow the user to start off with any activity with just a tap or a click. Also, a menu system had to be designed to allow easy navigation across all the functions of the application. It should let users instantly jump to different tasks.
Search functionality had to be facilitated to let users find information within the web application.
Our client had specific requirements that they wanted us to meet while also successfully addressing the challenges highlighted. We consulted the client and had a detailed discussion with their in-house team to understand the best ways we could help achieve the targets. Based on the discussions, we were able to finalize on the following approaches:
Comprehensive UX Design - We had to design the application to provide a seamless experience with quick access to tasks like reminders, travel updates, social updates, and invitations. This included creating a well-structured home page allowing users to jump directly to any activity with minimal effort.
Calendar-Based Dashboard - Our client wanted users to keep track of meetings, reminders, birthdays, and other daily activities. To meet this requirement, we built a consolidated dashboard that would help users manage their schedules.
Personalized Features - Since personalization is all the rage right now, we planned to develop features like a blogging platform, social update feed, invitation templates, and shopping planner. These features would enable users to engage with their connections, promote businesses, and personalize their experience.
Travel Planning Integration - Since enhancing the user experience was one of our top priorities, we planned to integrate a travel planning feature that allowed users to select points of interest on a map and create a travel itinerary.
To begin with the project, we proposed a complete application development solution consisting of designing and developing the Android and iOS Mobile Application and Server-Side Application Development.
We built an application user admin profile wherein the users can manage their social profile. They can check notifications, manage privacy settings, dashboard settings, see connections, etc.
We designed a well equipped user home page with every option available for the user to quickly jump around different tasks.
The Home page consists of one-click access to: Dashboard, Reminders, Planning updates, Social updates, Travel updates, Invitations, etc.
On the user home page top menu, we implemented interactive drop down menus which made it easy and quick to select micro tasks and thus saving a few clicks and taps for the user. We made it easier to search invitations, tasks, dining or shopping updates, and everything else by implementing a site search toolbar at the top. A consolidated dashboard was built based upon a calendar interface. This calendar gives the users the information about their daily schedule, making it trouble-free to track meetings, reminders, dinner plans, birthdays, etc.
With features like the calendar interface, blogging platform, and social feed, users were able to interact and engage with the app continuously.
